Remember Summer

This image was pivotal. I discovered the visual potential of placing silver bowls on a mirror: the reflected abstraction of tomatoes inside the bowl and the garden distorted around the outside. I was awestruck by the drama of realism, surrealism and abstraction. What began as an intuitive idea based on a dream was now a clear and resounding voice. The interplay and tension between realism, surrealism and abstraction that had played itself out in my youth, revealed itself on canvas. Creativity begins in wordless, unexplainable places and only reveals itself to those who commit to walk in the dark.
